Below are bar graphs combining all the crime rates for each state from the years 1960-2019. There is a quite a bit of fluctuation in both Property and Violent crime. Interestingly, the peaks of Property and Violent Crime Rates do not coincide. There is also significantly more Property Crime than Violent Crime. The most recent crime data shows that today there is a significantly higher crime rate than in the mid 1900s and a significanly lower crime rate than in the late 1900s. In other words, today's overall crime rates are not particularly historically significant.
